Her leaving her post seems to have upset our former temporary
boss almost as much as when she left our office, although he tries to keep from
showing it around me.
But the more I work with our former temporary boss. the more
needy I realize he is and how similar he is to the poet in that he craves a
lifestyle that he was not born into
he wants to be an upper west side liberal and a man deeply
entrenched in the arts while his roots are blue collar Republican which he
hates
at one point, he seemed to have had real success but that
has long since passed and now he works back in the news industry as a copy
editor and does not seem to have a lot of importance at least not where
Management's concerned
like our poet, he has immense amount of talent that he just
cannot seem to make into success and struggles in a really strange position
where the publishers hate him or and he has only the respect of the writers
I understand why he would be so vulnerable to the attention
the poet gave him back in the day when he really was temporary boss and how it
must have really been a falling for him when he lost that position and she
moved on
I actually think she likes him; I know he loves her. the problem is that when she left a big part
of him died inside
another betrayal although not intentional not on her part
but management totally stabbed in the back prior to this and her going made a
huge vacancy in him as it did for all of us but he was particularly in
infatuated
at one point, in one of her posts or poet praised him and it
must have really made him feel like King of the mountain again even if only for
a moment and I feel sorry for both of them because in a way they are the most
talented people I know and have gotten nothing out of it
