Two weeks is not enough
To make up for a life time,
The burden mounted
On her shoulders
The way Atlas does the world,
To shed it is a challenge,
Even the might Hercules
Could not easily accomplish,
Even though he had
The strength of a hundred men,
And she, as crafty as she is,
As clever, as smart at all Athens,
Is still too weak to bear it all
Worn down from the attempt,
Rolling the boulder up the hill
Only to have it foll down the other side,
Each time she thinks
She’s found success
And must start it all over again,
Two weeks is not enough time
To recover her strength,
Though it is better than nothing,
And must do before she
Puts her shoulder against it
One more time and starts
To push, up, up, to what
She assumed as salvation,
When just as she gets to the top,
Just when she thinks she
Can get all that she deserves
It slips out of her grasp,
Two weeks is not enough
To give her the strength she needs,
