Plato tells us
We mostly live
An illusion
The shadow
On the wall
Of the cave,
From which
We need a guide
To reveal to us
The real world,
Dragging us out
Into the scalding
Brightness,
Truth being too
Much for most
Of us to bear,
When we find
Shadows
More comfortable
To endure,
We are not
A people
Who handles
Truth well,
Preferring the
Illusion
Even when the
Shadow we see
We cast onto
The wall,
Out here,
In the sunlight
All is just too stark,
No gray places
In which we can hide,
We need the fake
Things to make us
Feel safe,
Inside.
