Dead flowers can
Still smell sweet
Just as dead roses
Still have thorns
Do you revive them
To keep them living
or to make it so
You don’t get pricked,
No matter how
Many times you try,
No matter how
Much water
You use,
Dead Flowers
stay dead,
though if you
prick your fingers
on dead roses’ thorns
you will still bleed,
a lesson my
wounded fingers
have yet to learn
and maybe never will.
