Volcano (2017)

It doesn’t erupt all at once

It only seems to,

That sudden burst of lave and sone

Fumes rising so high

Flight becomes impossible,

As if we want to go anywhere

When we already have each other,

Content at being trapped,

After having stored all this up

Waiting for the moment when

We can inspire each other

To erupt, blowing our tops,

But not too quickly,

The tender violence more

Than we could possibly imagine,

The slow build up,

The fumes we emit before we

Set loose,

Teaching each other in the dark of night

How to make it happen,

Not just once, but over and over,

Needing it to happen, begging for it to come

And when it does,

We have each other

To comfort each other

And if we can,

Make it happen again
