You can’t always make your own luck Dec. 12, 2012

They say

You make your own luck

Beating your brains out

Against the status quo

But it won’t keep you

From snake eyes

If the dice roll wrong

You, stumbling

Amid the crowd

An unnoticed peon

When you know

You are better

Than most,

How to you stand out

Find your dream,

Take what is yours

In a world that presses

In on you til you

Can’t breathe,

We all judge you

Because we are jealous,

Wishing we could be you,

On line as you

Claw your way to the top

To enjoy at least brief

Pleasure of having

Been part of your success,

Even if it as the end of day

You rule over us,

Only to get there,

Takes more than crawling up

And over the bodies,

More than talent,

More than will or fiber

Still sometimes,

You still can

Roll snake eyes
