All these years later I wish I had kept to the high road
like I said I would yet never could, like a bad Penny bouncing back to that neck
of the woods, or as one Irish proverb said, making the ache no less but only
more, I should have taken the high road, less traveled though I needed to tread
where other men had, regretting it the moment I did, since there was no turning
back, no way to restore it once it was gone, no way to retrace steps to where
the path diverged, you take the high road and I'll get there before you, when I
should have taken that path and stuck to it, why do we always have to choose
the wrong road, I should have stuck to the high road when in fact few do,
losing my way the moment I stopped
