I wonder if she will still remember me
when all this is gone
when the rattle of fallen leaves
gives way to the silence of fallen snow
will she look back on the trail her footstep left
to see that point
where mine and hers diverged
and will she Wonder as I often do
might life have been
good had we
kept to the same
trail together
I know better having
seen it
all those places where we forced to pause
where Joy gave way to pain
where truth faded
into some semblance
of something we could
not reconcile
and still I wonder when all is said and done
will she find even
find a small bit of silver
in the snow that
might have her smile
some moment among all
those moments
she might cherish the way I still do
will she ever remember me
as a time taking its giant strides
and leaves us both
behind
lost and where snowfall buries both of our trails
