without the doubt
playing Lola in Damned Yankees
is typecasting
this opposed to Jane who played
it decades ago at the playhouse in Willowbrook Mall
my best friend's
girlfriends deceptively innocent
when she like my new poet friend is not
what even Lola wants Lola gets
as true today as it ever was
when she was playing it in her hometown
or before when it played on Broadway
who can refuse her when she wants for something
and yet at the same time she seems
to never get what she really wants
even for me
Lola being the whole world
