Footsteps in the sand (2015)

 I feel the flow

Inside me

With each wave

That hits this beach

The ache

The rhythm

The in and out,

Followed by the hiss

Of salty foam,

Left in the wake

Of water,

The feel of it

All on my naked

Toes as I stroll

Just where

The waves end,

And the dryer

Reflected sand

Begins,

My life caught

In-between

Those safer places

Further away

From the edge

Of waves,

And the flatter

Moist sand

That briefly

Accepts my

Intrusion,

And lets me

Leave my mark,

My footsteps that

Last in this sand

Only until

The next wave

Comes,

Leaving me

To try again,

Footsteps that

Last long enough

For me to make them,

But no longer
