The truth comes out Oct. 16, 2012

It was the little man who told her to “do the right thing,” not the owner of our paper, leaving the mystery as to how much the owner learned about the whole mess.

The congressman’s PR woman apparently told the little man who informed the congressman, after having promised me to say nothing about RR to anyone, least of all them.

I should have known. Political loyalty is more important in this sewer of ours than keeping a person’s word.

But then, the little man had already heard as much from Tom, and so this merely confirmed the issue.

Still the whole thing pissed me off because the little man took the easy way out, putting pressure on her to resign rather than confronting RR who orchestrated the whole thing.

So, she becomes a victim to yet another group of power brokers, sending her packing with the mistaken belief she is responsible for the whole mess, when it is clear she is only the instrument RR (and possibly the whole group of henchmen associated with that mayor) used for their own ends.

This is Tuesday. It will likely be the last time I see her again, as it appears she has set Wednesday (tomorrow) as her last day – perhaps she may extend this to Friday in order to spend a little quality time with the friends she made at the office – it’s hard to tell.

But her statement last week about not hating all me only some serves as a parting shot. So, I will likely avoid any parting encounter, yet seeing her will likely be inevitable among the lingering feelings that I’m the one responsible for driving her out, not just in her thinking, but likely in the thoughts of her allies here (especially the two office gossips).

What happens after this remains largely in the hands of RR, whether he still has a use for her now that she’s stepped down. Will he cast her away now that her usefulness has expired?

I hope not. She seems to have real feelings for him. Perhaps they will carry on the good fight together, marking me as their political enemy.

The question is whether she will have to flee this part of the world as she has every other time her plans have gone afoul, searching out new fertile ground on which to rebuild her life?
