Amistad made him a hero,
a saint in every abolitionist mind
A George Floyd a century and a half
before there was a real George Floyd
The son of a black king some say
or black Outlaw in the heart of the blackest of Africa
who was sold into slavery by other black men
and sent off to serve in some Caribbean hellhole
Who mutinied and killed his captain and crew
only to get betrayed by the one white man
they needed as a guide
steering them towards New York
where a white warship saved them
Spain screaming high
heaven for them to return them as slaves
And an ancient former president waxing so eloquent
even the supposedly racist Supreme Court took his side
Sending him back to the Heart of Darkness
where he did to other blacks what other blacks did to him
sending his black Brothers Into the hands of the ruthless
Arabs
for that horrible mid passage across the Sahara
or to the greedy Spanish ship that dragged them back
to the Caribbean hellhole he had escaped
that hero who saved himself
but sending others to the Whip and chain
